The WAR of 1812

United States President Madison declared war on Great Britain, including Canada, on June 12, 1812.  It was boasted that Canada "could be taken without soldiers" Officially war was declared because of "Britains aggressions against American ships and support of western Native American tribes."  The comparatively weak U.S. forces, led by inept generals, garnered more humiliations than victories.
